During October, I stumbled across a lovely event called the Snail Mail Collective. Hosted by Melyssa at The Nectar Collective and Chelsea at Lost in Travels, the SMC is a monthly gift exchange that matches you with a pal from a different state or even country. The object is to get to know your partner through e-mails, then travel back in time to the early 90s (the best years probably ever) and send him or her some good ole fashioned, highly coveted, as-exciting-as-Christmas-morning snail mail. Everyone else gets that excited about snail mail, too, right?
You guys, I got an awesome partner. She's the sweetest girl, she's adorable and her blog is swell. She's Lauren at My Passion Journey.
Lauren's blog is so happy and colorful, filled to the brim with inspiring and personable stories, with photographs to match. Lauren loves to travel and she's a very creative person. I just found out she loves Disneyland, a place I also adore! If you ever want to hear an swoon-worthy story, ask her how she and her husband got to know each other. It may involve coffee - something we seemed to talk about a lot in our conversations. But really, what's better than coffee and new friends?
The theme for October's gift exchange was Autumn Adventures. The gift I received definitely didn't fall far from the tree. (Ha! Get it? An autumn pun! *crickets*)
Let me just say this - Lauren spoiled me. Remember when I said Lauren was the sweetest girl? I meant it. Along with a lovely, handwritten postcard of the Grand Canyon (she's currently living in Arizona), she got me Pumpkin Spice Rooibos tea (YUM), Pumpkin Bread & Muffin Mix, and Dark Chocolate with Almonds. All from Trader Joe's. Which I adore. I don't think Lauren knew I liked any of these things, but her guesses were spot-on.
Lauren, thank you so much. You made my day with this thoughtful gift.
If you'd like to see the gift I sent Lauren, click here. Make sure to mosey around a bit, she's a great writer/blogger. Her blog is sure to bring a grin between your cheeks.
To participate for the month of November, click the banner above. Sign-ups go until the 7th. It's a really neat experience and an instant connection with someone you probably would not have otherwise met. I recommend it to anyone wanting to make a new friend. I'll definitely be participating again soon.
