We here at The Duck and The Owl and Hollis over at Fox and Rook are excited to announce the second book in our Forest Friends Book Club!
The book we've chosen for November is You Are Not Like Other Mothers (2012) by Angelika Schrobsdorff. Strictly YA-readers, fear not! While this is a stark contrast from our last book, it sounds awesome and will give you a chance to branch out.
"You Are Not Like Other Mothers is the story of Else Krischner, a free spirited mother of three sons. The novel spans the first half of the 20th century, from World War I through the Jewish Else’s exile in Bulgaria during World War II. Multi-layered and epic in scope, the narrative incorporates numerous sub-plots and secondary characters to provide a richly rendered portrait of 20th century Europe." - Goodreads
Just like last time, we will give everyone a week to get your hands on a copy of the book and start reading next Friday. For any newbies, or those of you with green thumbs (get it? cause this is forest friends? eh? eh? failed joke - moving on), each week we read an assigned number of pages and post our reactions the following Friday. Join us! You didn't have to be part of last month's book discussion to be a part of this one!
If you'd like to participate - please do! Make sure to tag your posts with "Forest Friends Book Club" so we can find you, or pingback your posts to us or Hollis. We also have a button on the right sidebar on our page that you can include in your posts if you wish. To see all our FFBC posts, feel free to click it.
We can't wait to get started on another awesome book!
Let us know in the comments if you'll be participating :)
