FFBC - Attachments Section 1 Discussion!

Welcome Forest Friends, to our first week of book discussion! We're so excited that all of you are embracing this club with such enthusiasm; it's fabulous to see. Your posts and reflections so far have been nothing short of incredible and fun to read.

We're loving the book so far, which isn't a surprise because Rainbow Rowell is so wonderful. For our first post, we decided to react in three ways and talk about: Our favorite characters, favorite quotes and a list of THINGS WE'RE GOOD AT (Thanks, Taylor (and the character Sam), for the inspiration).

Favorite Characters:

Kaitlyn's fave - Lincoln's Mom. I know, I know. She seems a wee bit overbearing, but I just think she's wonderful. She cooks food ALL the time and is freakin' adorable. She kind of reminds me of the mother in Silver Linings Playbook.

Sarah's fave - Lincoln. I think I love Lincoln so much because I identify with him. I've graduated and am currently working a sort of "filler" job until I find one that's right for me. I think Lincoln is doing the same thing. Lincoln also reminds me of Cath a bit from Rainbow Rowell's Fangirl. They're both major introverts and don't mind spending time alone. I definitely echo that. Also, I just love his name.

Favorite Quotes:

Kaitlyn - "I think I missed my window...My get-a-life window" (82). Just how relatable is Lincoln?!? I think he eloquently says almost everyone's biggest fear. What if I missed out on an opportunity to live the life I want to live? What if I missed my moment that was supposed to tell me, "This is what you're meant to do?"

Sarah - "Well, when you think about that guy - who, by the way, we both know isn't me - when you think about meeting him, do you think about meeting him in a place like this? In a place this ugly? This loud? Do you want him to smell like Jägermeister and cigarettes? Do you want your first dance to be to a song about strippers?" (pg. 53) I just adore Lincoln. So wise and funny.

For this section, we decided that we should write the list for the other person (just like Sam wrote one for Lincoln), only we're not going to choose a major for each other or anything...

1. Writing bold and honest things.
2. Buying books. A lot of books. And ALL of them have awesome covers.
3. Designing things! A pro at all things Photoshop and InDesign.
4. Car singing.
5. Being a kick-butt older sister.

1. Writing. About everything. Happy, sad, funny - she can do it all. And make it so relatable.
2. Support. This girl checks up on you like crazy. She always makes sure you are ok.
3. Speaking of crazy - being top crazy.
5. Photography. Her photos are to-die for (even when she had a basic digital camera).

This week we'll be reading pages 107-210 (chapter 60). Our focus for our post next week will be: Thoughts on Jennifer and Beth? Who do you like better? WILL LINCOLN EVER MEET THEM!?!? Is Beth good for Lincoln? If you haven't started yet, it's not too late to join! Click here to learn more about the club/book. Also, click here to read our co-host Hollis' post for this week!

Did you post about Attachments? Ping it back to this post or leave a link in the comments so others can read along!

OR leave us a comment with who your favorite character/what your favorite quote is! Hey, you could even make a list of things you're good at :)
