Takeover of the Alliterative Kelly's

By: Sarah

As I was watching You've Got Mail for the hundredth time, I realized something. Kathleen Kelly is such a wonderful person. And she has an awesome, alliterative name. In fact, there are so many other great fictional characters with double-K names. I might be the only person who is excited about this revelation, but I thought this tidbit of knowledge was too interesting not to share.

Here are some of my favorite characters with double-K names:

Kelly Kapowski
Little did Kelly Kapowski know that everything she wore would come back into style. I love this Kelly, from Saved by the Bell, because she was a good student and role model. She didn't live up to the stereotypes of head cheerleader. She was charming, cute and all-around nice.

Kim Kelly
Freaks & Geeks should have never been cancelled. I felt like we were finally getting to see the real Kim Kelly, the troubled girl who definitely had a right to be, and then the show ended. Kim made a lot of mistakes, but it was from those mistakes that she learned who she was. My wish for Kim is that she went to college, made some new friends and discovered in herself what the audience could see but she couldn't, her courage, honesty and poise.

Kelly Kapoor is irrational, clingy, desperate, annoying and wonderful. I love Kelly Kapoor. Maybe it's because she embodies every teenage girl's thoughts. Maybe it's because, despite being overly-affectionate, she's kind. Maybe it's because she gossips everyone's ears off. Or maybe it's because I can totally relate to her. Any girl who says she can't is a liar.

Sigh. The lovely Kathleen Kelly. I dream of being Kathleen Kelly. Great with words, owns a bookstore, beautiful, energetic, loving, the list goes on. And it's not just the good qualities that make her so wonderful, it's the real ones, too. She falls out of love with her live-in boyfriend. She secretly chats with another man all the time. She is real. And I wish I could be her. Or at least be her friend.

Sorry Kim Kardashian, you didn't make the cut. Because you're the worst.
