A QLC for you and me!

By: Sarah

I’m 23 years old.

Therefore, I am, technically, an adult. A grown up. But lately, I’ve been feeling more like a “groan” up.

I’m graduating college in two weeks, moving back home in a month and have no idea where my life is going. I’ve been applying for jobs all over the country and have only gotten one meager interview for an internship. I had to turn down the interview because the internship was unpaid. I’m, forgive the outdated slang, broke as a joke. I’m not even sure what I actually want to be. I’ve even forgotten what it’s like to get my hopes up.

In short, I’m having a quarter-life crisis.

I’m not asking for a pity party. Please, please don’t think that. At 23, I already attend too many parties as it is.

All I’m asking is to know I’m not alone.

A lot of my friends are going through the same stage in their lives right now. So, I know there are other people feeling how I’m feeling, it’s just hard to remember sometimes. When this feeling overcomes me, I turn to the one thing that will never expect me to act like a groan up – music.

I know I’m not alone. And you should know you’re not alone. And that it’s OK to feel all the things I’m feeling. As long as you don’t feel them forever. (That last part is something I’m still learning.)

If you are currently in a QLC (the acronym makes it feel cuter), here are five songs to listen to. Some of them express exactly what you’re feeling at this exact moment in an eerie way. Others are a little more uplifting. I’m not going to go through each song and write what I think about them because I want you to just listen. They’ll help. I promise.

I guess the thing that pisses me off most about this quarter-life crisis is that I don’t even have enough money to buy myself a cute new pocketed-dress, much less something extravagant like a baby blue Mercedes Benz with Hello Kitty decals. Well, I’m off to make some Ramen.
